A fraction is a **part** of something.

You can show fractions using **shapes** by **colouring or shading** parts.

**Circles** and **rectangles** are good shapes to use.

In this activity you have to split shapes into the right number of parts to show each fraction.

To be good at finding fractions of numbers you need to understand **multiples**. So we will learn about these first.

Next we will find out how to find unit fractions, and then explore how to find other numbers of quarters and thirds.

After that we will investigate finding other fractions of different numbers.
